Bitcoin Adoption at the U.S. Congress

Bitcoin adoption reached the U.S. Congress as lawmakers enhanced their wealth through crypto investments.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a pro-Donald Trump representative from Georgia, invested in Bitcoin (BTC) through BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust. Greene’s Bitcoin purchase ranged between $15,000 to $50,000 via the exchange-traded fund during March 3-4, according to public disclosures released on March 10.

In addition to Bitcoin, Greene acquired stocks in Tesla, a BTC holder, and Goldman Sachs, which has shown interest in crypto services if allowed by regulators. According to records, Greene’s investments totaled around $140,000, with Bitcoin being her largest allocation.

As the U.S. progresses towards a national Bitcoin strategy under President Trump, few policymakers have BTC in their personal investment portfolios. Currently, only Senators Cynthia Lummis and Ted Cruz, along with Representative Barry Moore, are known to hold Bitcoin. Historically, Representatives Bob Goodlatte and Madison Cawthorn also had BTC holdings.

It’s possible that other lawmakers may own Bitcoin through various trusts or unreported accounts.
