Pro-XRP Lawyer John Deaton Eyes Senate Run

Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton, who previously ran against anti-crypto Sen. Elizabeth Warren, is considering a Senate bid against Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, who is seeking a fourth term in 2026.

Deaton, self-identified as a pro-abortion independent recently aligning with the GOP, believes his name recognition can attract support from crypto industry donors. He must convince them he can mount a successful campaign in deep-blue Massachusetts.

“I can win, quite frankly,” Deaton said, emphasizing the need for the crypto industry to back him rather than write off the state. He plans to court donors like Club for Growth and Fairshake, which significantly funded pro-crypto candidates in past elections.

To increase his visibility, Deaton is launching an “all-issues” podcast and exploring a radio show in Massachusetts. His initial campaign against Warren aimed to challenge her anti-crypto stance, and he has intentions to continue advocating for pro-crypto policies.

Deaton underscores the need for regulatory protections for retail investors and innovation in the crypto market, cautioning against extreme shifts in government oversight. He expressed his disapproval of initiatives like the Official Trump meme coin, advocating instead for legislation that prioritizes the crypto sector’s legitimacy moving forward.
