Consumer Prices in France: November Update
(Reuters) – Consumer prices in France were up 1.7% year-on-year in November, according to the statistics office INSEE on Friday, matching its preliminary reading published late last month.
The EU-harmonised year-on-year inflation figure in France—the bloc’s second-largest economy—slightly accelerated from 1.6% in October.
Analysts in a Reuters poll had expected the November EU-harmonised inflation figure to be 1.7%.
The November figure was influenced by a seasonal slowdown in air transport prices, which reduced overall service prices.
On a monthly basis, prices fell 0.1% in November, following a 0.3% increase in October.
Energy prices decreased by 0.7% year-on-year after a -0.2% reading in October. Conversely, food prices rose 0.2% year-on-year in November, compared to a 0.6% increase in the previous month. Meanwhile, services inflation remained stable at 2.3%, according to INSEE data.
