US Marshalls Arrest Wiz (Veer Chetal) in $243 Million Crypto Heist
US Marshalls have reportedly arrested Wiz (Veer Chetal), the third member of a hacker trio that included Greavys (Malone Iam) and Box (Jeandiel Serrano). They executed a $243 million crypto heist in 2024, targeting a single victim, a Genesis creditor, through social engineering tactics.
The Heist Details
The trio utilized spoofed phone numbers and fake support calls to impersonate Google and Gemini representatives, manipulating the victim into transferring funds and resetting their two-factor authentication.
The largest transaction occurred at 4:05 am UTC when they transferred 4064 BTC, valued at $238 million, in a single transaction. This moment was captured on a screen share by Zach, who included the revelation in his updates.
Wiz’s Role in the Heist
Zach reported that Wiz (Veer) received a significant portion of the stolen funds but made the mistake of revealing his full name during the heist, as seen in the screenshare. He was frequently referred to by his first name in recordings by his accomplices. A mugshot of him was shared on X for updates, pending official confirmation from authorities.
Veer, aged 19, was apprehended by US Marshals and may face several years in prison if convicted.

Arrests of Co-Conspirators
This arrest follows the apprehension of Greavys and Box months earlier. An unsealed indictment revealed Greavys’ real identity as Malone Lam, a citizen of Singapore residing in Miami and Los Angeles, while Box is identified as Jeandiel Serrano from Los Angeles.
Both were arrested in September 2024 and charged with conspiracy to steal and launder cryptocurrency. They were scheduled to appear in separate federal courts in California and Florida on September 19, 2024, according to the Justice Department.
Lavish Spending Revealed
According to Zach’s investigation, a substantial portion of the stolen funds was allegedly spent on luxury items, including cars, watches, jewelry, and designer clothes. Although Malone did not disclose his identity during the heist, his extravagant lifestyle led to his identification.
He reportedly purchased luxury vehicles, including a $3.8 million Pagani Huayra and a $1 million Lamborghini Revuelto. As of now, 22 luxury vehicles owned by Lam are still unaccounted for.
Moreover, he rented extravagant mansions and acquired luxury watches, one reportedly worth $1.8 million. His quick rise in the Los Angeles nightlife scene was evident through his extravagant gifts, including handbags to influencers.
Malone was linked to the crime after unintentionally revealing an address used for luxury purchases.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Greavys was discovered through OSINT in LA/Miami, partly because friends shared his location on social media. He also had a public Instagram where he flaunted his identity. After Greavys’ arrest, his partner attempted to alert Malone of the impending danger, but he too was eventually caught.
Box and Wiz laundered most of the stolen funds to XMR but frequently failed to separate dirty and clean funds, leading to multiple missteps that exposed them.

CFInvestigators and various teams managed to freeze over $9 million, successfully returning $500,000 to the victim.
Currently, Lam faces two counts of indictment in the District of Columbia for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, each potentially carrying a maximum of 20 years. He remains in custody in Virginia, with a trial expected to occur in October 2025. His defense lawyer has indicated plans for further legal motions, arguing for necessary disclosures from the US government.
Prosecutors indicate Lam’s sentence could range from 168 to 210 months, with around $100 million in stolen Bitcoin still missing.
