An unidentified Bitcoin (BTC) whale has become unexpectedly active in the last 24 hours, increasing their cryptocurrency accumulation to 12,131 BTC.

According to data from Arkham Intelligence, the address "bc1qmpn" first appeared on the on-chain radar two weeks ago, landing 16.87 BTC, valued at $1.01 million.

The funds originated from another unknown address, "bc1qcacv." Eight days later, the new whale received an additional 176.616 BTC, worth approximately $10.63 million, after which their activity paused for a time.

However, the last 24 hours saw a resurgence in their Bitcoin absorption, from the same initial address. This surge brought their total holdings to an impressive $770.49 million.

Important details

Interestingly, the address from which the whale received funds holds a significant amount of Bitcoin, totaling 11,477 BTC or $728.92 million.

The first address that sent funds to "bc1qmpn" reportedly received its initial BTC from a wallet likely linked to Fortress Trust, a crypto custodian.

However, it's uncertain whether the substantial amount of Bitcoin, potentially exceeding a billion and a half dollars in total, belongs to Fortress Trust or is associated with one of its clients.
