Airstrikes in Yemen

(Reuters) – Airstrikes were launched on Friday at several locations in Yemen, including its capital Sanaa and Hodeidah airport, according to Al Masirah TV, the main television news outlet run by the Houthi movement, and residents.

Strikes also targeted the southern region of Dhamar city, as reported by the channel.

Al Masirah TV claimed that the strikes were conducted by U.S. and British forces; however, a British government source denied Britain’s involvement.

Iran-aligned Houthi militants have been launching attacks on international shipping near Yemen since last November in solidarity with Palestinians amid Israel’s war with Hamas.

These Houthi attacks have prompted retaliatory strikes from the U.S. and Britain and have disrupted global trade, forcing ship owners to reroute vessels away from the Red Sea and Suez Canal, opting for the longer route around the southern tip of Africa.
