Tennessee Man Accused of Stealing Crypto from George Jones’ Widow
A Tennessee man, Kirk West, has been charged with stealing millions in XRP, alongside additional accusations of stealing other cryptocurrencies from Nancy Jones, the widow of country music star George Jones.
West, previously in a relationship with Nancy Jones, was arrested in Nashville for allegedly stealing $400,000 in cash and a Ledger wallet containing $17 million worth of XRP from her home.
Nancy Jones claims that West also stole Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Ethereum (ETH). A restraining order affidavit filed by Nancy revealed that West “seduced” her following the death of her husband, leading to a relationship that turned financially exploitative.
Over the years, she supported West and allowed him to purchase cryptocurrencies on her behalf, during a time when he claimed expertise in the crypto space while on house arrest for prior criminal charges.
After discovering West’s infidelity, Nancy kicked him out and investigated the disappearance of significant assets, including the Ledger wallet.
A blockchain analyst was subsequently hired, leading to recovery of most of the XRP, but the ETH and SHIB have yet to be returned. West is now in custody, with a court hearing scheduled for October 23 and bail set at $1,000,000.
