Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000
Bitcoin reached a new inflation-adjusted high on Sunday, briefly surpassing $80,000, amid a rally in digital assets following Donald Trump's re-election for a second Presidential term.
Analyst Predictions
Geoff Kendrick of Standard Chartered, who predicted Bitcoin's rise to $80,000 before the election, anticipates continued growth through the year's end, aiming for $100,000 before the Dec. 27 expiry of specific Bitcoin options. He stated:
> "$125,000, which I forecast for the end of the year, is the next level, although I note that following the 2016 election, many Trump trades peaked around Jan. 20. So if BTC can’t reach $125,000 by Dec. 31, I think it will by Jan. 20."
Kendrick also predicted that Ethereum and Solana could benefit from Bitcoin's rising price, stating that a fresh all-time high for SOL (currently $260 from Nov. 2021) before year-end seems inevitable, while ETH (with an all-time high of $4,866) may peak around inauguration.
Market Impact
The bullish trend in Bitcoin has contributed to substantial rallies in other cryptocurrencies. Cardano rose over 35% in just 24 hours after its founder, Charles Hoskinson, announced plans to engage the Trump administration for favorable crypto policies. In his podcast on X, he mentioned:
> "I have personal friendships with certain lawmakers and members of the Trump administration. We hope to have great dialogues in the coming months to develop policy."
Kendrick believes that with rising adoption and new real-world applications, the entire crypto market could reach $10 trillion by the end of 2026.
In summary, the top 30 crypto tokens have increased approximately 8.5% over the past day, according to The Block's GMCI30 Index.
