Star Entertainment CEO Resigns

(Reuters) – Embattled Australian casino operator Star Entertainment announced on Friday that the CEO of its Star Gold Coast casino has resigned just three months into the job, following a license suspension extension.

Key Details

  • Mark Mackay was appointed CEO in September to implement regulatory reforms aimed at lifting the casino's license suspension.
  • The suspension was previously set to expire on December 20 but has been pushed back to the end of March next year.
  • The term of the regulator-appointed special manager, overseeing Gold Coast operations, has been extended to June next year.
  • Mackay's predecessor, Jessica Mellor, left her position in mid-April amidst an exodus of top officials due to a second inquiry into Star's Sydney operations.
