Bitcoin Compared to an Orange Dwarf
In a poetic tweet, Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor compared Bitcoin to an “Orange Dwarf,” capturing the attention of the crypto community. He stated,
> “Bitcoin is an Orange Dwarf—the brightest object in the financial system—growing stronger, hotter, and denser as it attracts capital.”
This analogy sparked considerable interest, connecting Bitcoin’s persistent growth to that of an orange dwarf star. Known for longevity and increasing intensity, orange dwarfs symbolize stability and strength, much like Bitcoin’s role in the financial system. In another tweet, Saylor drew parallels between Bitcoin and a digital energy network.
Saylor’s assertion underscores Bitcoin’s distinctive place in the financial ecosystem, continually gaining strength and influence as capital flows into the network.
MicroStrategy has endorsed this strategy since August 2020, beginning its Bitcoin purchases and accumulating 499,096 BTC, making it the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder. Under Saylor’s leadership, MicroStrategy has also become the largest issuer of convertible bonds in recent years, raising about $9 billion.
Recently, a new exchange-traded fund (ETF) named BMAX was launched, focusing on companies that hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets, such as Saylor’s rebranded Strategy. Bitwise also introduced a fund tracking an index of corporations that have Bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset, with Strategy making up about a quarter of it.
Bitcoin Eyes Volatility with Fed Meeting Ahead
At the time of writing, BTC has fallen by 1.14% in the last 24 hours, now priced at $83,263 as investors consider macroeconomic risks and the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting.
The Fed will convene on Wednesday to provide an update on inflation. The FOMC meeting is scheduled for March 18-19, with keen interest from observers on how Fed Chair Powell will address trade and fiscal policy changes, particularly regarding the quantitative tightening (QT) program, which may be halted or paused.
Despite recent encouraging economic data, investors anticipate that the Federal Reserve will hold its current position during the two-day meeting concluding on Wednesday. Traders are also pricing in 0.75 percentage points of interest rate cuts by year-end, beginning in June.
