Ethereum vs. Bitcoin: Potential Shift in Leadership

Ethereum may be on track to outperform Bitcoin in the short-to-mid term. The ETH/BTC ratio, a crucial chart measuring Ethereum’s strength against Bitcoin, has recently crossed its 50-week moving average for the first time since 2023, often indicating a trend reversal.

Experts suggest this may signal the beginning of a mini altcoin cycle led by Ethereum. If true, Ethereum could end this market cycle at around $7,500, while Bitcoin might reach between $220,000 and $250,000.

Analyst Scott Melker supports the idea that Ethereum could outperform Bitcoin in the short term but emphasizes it should be viewed as a trading opportunity rather than a long-term hold. He stated, “If you’re trying to buy an asset that you want to hold for 20 or 30 years, it’s hard to beat Bitcoin.”

Criticism and Market Sentiment

Recently, Ethereum has faced heavy criticism, with some claiming it is a dead project or stating that Solana has taken its place. Issues with the Ethereum Foundation have also been highlighted. However, Melker views this negativity as a potential buying opportunity.

Future Outlook for Ethereum

Ethereum seems to have reached a short-term peak after a robust rally. While it remains above the significant support level of $3,630, recent movements indicate it may be entering a cooling-off phase or correction.

As long as Ethereum stays above $3,630, there’s a chance of further gains. However, a drop below this level could signal a deeper pullback into the support zone of $3,591 to $3,476. A break above $3,855 would indicate ongoing bullish momentum.
