El Salvador Increases Bitcoin Purchases, Now Accumulating 1.6 BTC Daily

El Salvador has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings, raising its daily purchases from 1 BTC to approximately 1.6 BTC. The government has acquired 93 BTC at an average price of $98,579 since December 22, 2024, with daily purchases ranging between 1 BTC and 11 BTC.

As a result, El Salvador’s total Bitcoin holdings now stand at 6,081 BTC, valued at approximately $579.9 million based on current market prices.

This move indicates a continuing commitment to Bitcoin as a national asset, following the country’s landmark decision to accept BTC as legal tender in 2021.

The government’s increased BTC purchases reflect President Nayib Bukele’s long-term bullish outlook, with him previously emphasizing Bitcoin’s role in fostering economic growth and financial independence.

This strategy comes amidst rising global interest in institutional Bitcoin adoption and impending regulatory changes in the United States.

Market analysts are closely watching El Salvador’s Bitcoin strategy, particularly as Bitcoin prices hover near all-time highs.
