Bitcoin miner Bitfarms’ stock surged on Tuesday following the announcement of a share buyback program.

Bitfarms, which is listed on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, saw a nearly 14% increase in its stock price on the American index (NASDAQ: BITF), reaching $1.28.
Share Buyback Authorization
The Toronto-based company has been authorized to repurchase up to 49,943,031 of its common shares from the outstanding 557,548,857 shares, amounting to approximately $64 million at the current price. This buyback could represent up to 10% of Bitfarms’ public float of 499,430,313 shares.
CEO’s Statement
Bitfarms’ CEO, Ben Gagnon, stated, “We believe that Bitfarms’ shares are currently undervalued because our Bitcoin business is underappreciated by the market, with little to no value being associated with our high-performance computing potential.”
