U.Today – Matt Hougan’s Bullish Outlook on Bitcoin

Matt Hougan, the CIO of Bitwise Investments, remains very optimistic about Bitcoin (BTC) despite its recent value decline. He anticipates a long-term recovery for BTC while discussing the current market downswing in a post on X.

Hougan’s Express Confidence for Bitcoin

Recently, Bitcoin has dropped significantly, falling to the $52,000 range after reaching an all-time high of $73,628. This decline follows general market volatility that has also affected altcoins like Ethereum (ETH) and XRP.

Reflecting on the recent market fluctuations, Hougan compared the situation to March 12, 2020, which marked a panic in the global market during the COVID-19 pandemic. On that day, BTC’s price fell from $7,911 to $4,971, showing a 37% decrease within 24 hours. However, Bitcoin quickly rebounded, reaching $57,332 a year later, illustrating resilience against adversity.

Hougan believes Bitcoin can replicate this recovery pattern, attributing current sell-offs to trader and investor panic. He stated, “People smash the sell button for liquid assets during broad-based panics. But from my seat, today’s events play into the long-term story for Bitcoin.”

This isn’t the first time Hougan has predicted a bullish outcome for Bitcoin. Last week, he suggested that Bitcoin could rise due to its value as a store of wealth.

Other Proponents of Bitcoin’s Bullish Outcome

Supporting the positive sentiment towards Bitcoin, Samson Mow, CEO of JAN3, forecasted a price of $1 million within the next year, driven by expectations of American corporations like Apple and Berkshire Hathaway investing cash into Bitcoin.

Michael Saylor, cofounder of MicroStrategy, also expressed confidence in Bitcoin’s future, urging the crypto community to “Believe in Bitcoin.”
