U.S. Secretary of State Appoints Ambassador for Transition
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has appointed Ambassador Stephen Mull to coordinate the transition to Donald Trump's administration on behalf of the State Department, spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters on Thursday, following Trump's election victory earlier this week.
Miller stated that the State Department has not yet made contact with the Trump transition team. He added that Blinken aims to utilize his remaining time in office to achieve significant progress on critical issues, including competition with China, enhancing Ukraine's position for success, and ending conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza.
