Jeff Bezos' rocket company, Blue Origin, has signed a multi-launch agreement with AST Spacemobile, a satellite communication company. This deal involves deploying AST's direct-to-cellular satellites using Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket over a multi-year period.
According to AST, these launches, along with others using unspecified existing launch vehicles, will fulfill the launch capacity necessary for continuous space-based cellular broadband service coverage in some of the most in-demand cellular markets globally.
The launch campaign is set for 2025 and 2026, involving the deployment of approximately 60 next-generation Block 2 BlueBird satellites. While Blue Origin confirmed that the New Glenn rocket will launch multiple satellites, the exact number of missions involved remains unspecified.
