A Brief Look at the Reasons Behind the Latest Bitcoin Dip Below $100,000
Ark Invest CEO Cathy Woods reiterates her bullish case for BTC and stands by her $1 million prediction during a recent interview.
It’s been a rude awakening for Bitcoin (BTC) holders this week as the cryptocurrency has been in freefall. The coin dropped from $108,364 on Tuesday, 17th December, to $95,537 on Thursday, marking its biggest successive pullback since August.
U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell may have reignited bearish activity through his recent comments. Additionally, claims of only two rate cuts in 2025 exasperated the situation.
While sellers took advantage of the information, the downward pressure may have created more fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD). As a result, bullish sentiments were further eroded, especially considering the holiday season, prompting investors to withdraw for holiday spending.
Despite declining sentiment, as indicated by the Fear and Greed index, many still hold on to bullish optimism. Among them is Ark Invest CEO Cathy Wood, who believes Bitcoin can rally to $1 million per coin.
Cathy Wood Holds On to Prediction for $1 Million Bitcoin Valuation by 2030
Cathy Wood, known as one of Bitcoin’s biggest bulls, doubled down on her prediction during a recent Bloomberg interview. She stated that BTC could be worth between $1 million and $1.5 million by 2030.
Wood points to a favorable regulatory landscape as a key factor for institutional adoption. She also notes Bitcoin’s scarcity as a major driver for this trend.
Technological factors make Bitcoin attractive beyond speculation, being backed by a secure global network as digital money.
The Bitcoin halving earlier this year is regarded as significant for institutional adoption, as it caused Bitcoin’s annual supply rate to be lower than that of gold.
Cathy Wood believes this shift will make Bitcoin more attractive to institutional investors, establishing BTC’s status as a digital store of value. She expects this combination of factors to accelerate Bitcoin adoption and fuel a long-term rally.
In the meantime, short-term pullbacks are expected in the market. The recent decline may present opportunities for investors to accumulate Bitcoin below $100,000.
