Transparency in Bilfinger's Boat Dock Collapse Investigation

DUESSELDORF (Reuters) – The CEO of Germany's Bilfinger, Thomas Schulz, has committed to complete transparency regarding the investigation into the boat dock collapse in Georgia, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals.

"This will be analysed in full with all that this entails," Schulz stated at a press event in Duesseldorf, ahead of scheduled publication on Wednesday.

The tragic incident occurred on October 19 during a celebration of Sapelo Island's Gullah-Geechee community, descendants of Black slaves.

Centennial Contractors Enterprises, a subsidiary of Bilfinger, was the general contractor for the dock and gangway's construction, collaborating with local subcontractors and vendors.

As for the cause of the collapse, Schulz mentioned, "We don't know much. There is no indictment or anything else."

Following the accident, Bilfinger's share price dropped by as much as 15%.

When questioned about how the German industrial services firm could reassure investors, Schulz replied, "You can only reduce uncertainty if you know exactly what has happened, what the consequences are."

He dismissed estimates regarding the financial impact on the company as "purely speculative."
