China’s foreign ministry dismissed accusations from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that China supplied weapons to Russia as “groundless.”

Despite maintaining close economic ties with Russia throughout the ongoing war in Ukraine, China has attempted to appear neutral and denies any involvement. This statement follows Zelenskiy’s allegations at a press conference, where he claimed China was supplying weapons and gunpowder to Russia and producing arms on Russian territory.

Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that China has never provided lethal weapons to any party in the Ukraine crisis, maintaining a clear stance to promote ceasefire and encourage peace talks.

Furthermore, Lin criticized groundless accusations and political manipulation, noting Ukraine has publicly stated that most weapon components imported by Russia originate from the United States and other Western nations.
