China’s Economic Growth Policies Briefing

(Reuters) – Senior officials from China’s top economic planning agency will brief reporters on Tuesday on steps to implement policies designed to promote economic growth, according to a notice from the State Council Information Office.

The briefing will feature five officials, including the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zheng Shanjie.

Topic of Discussion

The main topic will be: “systematically implementing a package of incremental policies to solidly promote economic growth, structural optimisation and sustained momentum of development.” The notice did not provide additional details.

Context

Tuesday marks the first working day in China following a series of holidays last week, including National Day.

Prior to the break, China’s central bank had lowered interest rates and injected liquidity into the banking system. Additionally, regulators relaxed some property curbs as part of stimulus measures, which contributed to a surge in stock prices.
