China’s Non-Manufacturing Activity in January

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s January non-manufacturing activity grew but at a slower pace than in December, according to an official survey released on Monday. This data suggests that policymakers may need to implement additional stimulus measures to support the weakened domestic demand.

The official non-manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI), which encompasses services and construction, declined to 50.2 from 52.2 in December, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The 50-point mark serves as the dividing line between expansion and contraction in activity on a monthly basis.

Additionally, the NBS composite PMI, which integrates manufacturing and services, registered at 50.1 in January, down from 52.2 in December.
