China’s Manufacturing Activity Update
BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s manufacturing activity in September experienced its fifth consecutive month of contraction, though the decline was slower than in August, according to an official factory survey released on Monday.
The official purchasing managers’ index (PMI) rose to 49.8 in September from 49.1 in August. Despite this increase, the index remains below the crucial 50-mark, which indicates growth versus contraction. However, the figure exceeded the median forecast of 49.5 from a Reuters poll.
