Dogecoin Reserve Initiative
Dogecoin Reserve aims to make DOGE faster and more usable for global daily transactions.

Dogecoin’s price gained significant bullish momentum following an announcement by House of Doge, a new division of the Dogecoin Foundation.
On March 24, the organization revealed the establishment of the Official Dogecoin Reserve by purchasing 10 million DOGE at market value. This initiative aims to position Dogecoin (DOGE) as a fast, decentralized currency suitable for global payments.
The Reserve will serve as a liquidity buffer for users and merchants, aiming to enable quicker transaction settlements and eliminate lag times that could hinder crypto payment adoption.
Market Reaction to the Announcement
The reaction in the markets was immediate.
Between March 24-25, DOGE surged from $0.176 to a session high of approximately $0.19158, representing gains of over 8.8%. This breakout surpassed key resistance levels, as highlighted by analyst Ali Martinez.
On-chain data showed that the Reserve announcement spurred trading activity, with Dogecoin trading volume climbing from $1.07 billion on March 24 to $1.63 billion on March 25, a 52.34% increase within 24 hours. This sharp uptick reversed a downtrend that had seen volume fall over 74% since early March.
Assessment of Transaction Volumes
On March 25, total on-chain transaction volumes rose to 858.59 million DOGE, up from approximately 354 million DOGE the day before, marking a 142.8% increase and highlighting increased blockchain activity as traders and speculators responded to the initiative.
Sustainability of Dogecoin’s Momentum
While price and volume metrics indicated rising enthusiasm, data on active addresses painted a different picture.
Prior to the announcement, 24-hour active addresses peaked at 291,220, with 7-day active users hitting 1.06 million. However, by March 25, these figures had dropped significantly, with daily active addresses falling to 73,130, a 75% decline from peak levels. Weekly active addresses also slid to 271,520, reflecting a 74% decrease from their high.
This decline highlights a common trend within the Dogecoin network, where event-driven spikes in activity often fade quickly. Even though DOGE can peak during moments of heightened attention, the network struggles to maintain sustained user engagement beyond major announcements.
In conclusion, although traders reacted positively to the Reserve news, maintaining day-to-day momentum is a challenge. The rapid drop in active users post-spike underscores the ongoing difficulty in achieving sustained adoption for Dogecoin.
