Everest Group Reports Third-Quarter Results
(Reuters) – Everest Group on Wednesday reported a near 3% rise in third-quarter operating income, fueled by strong growth in its reinsurance business and gains from investments.
Economic Outlook
The expectation of a soft landing for the economy and robust labor market data has revived spending on insurance policies, benefiting companies like Everest.
Reinsurance Performance
The company stated that gross written premiums in its reinsurance business increased by 2.1% to $3.27 billion in the reported quarter.
Investment Gains
Everest's investments also generated higher returns, supported by a buoyant equity market and increased bond yields due to a higher interest rate environment. Net investment income rose to $496 million in the quarter ending September 30, up from $406 million a year earlier.
Combined Ratio
Everest's combined ratio was 93.1% for the quarter, compared to 91.4% a year earlier. A ratio below 100% indicates that the company earned more from premiums than it paid out in claims.

Earnings
Everest's net operating income for the July-to-September period stood at $630 million, or $14.62 per share, up from $613 million, or $14.14 per share, a year ago.
