German Chancellor Sacks Finance Minister
BERLIN (Reuters) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz dismissed his Finance Minister Christian Lindner on Wednesday following weeks of disputes regarding the government's economic direction, according to two sources.
Earlier reports from Bild indicated that Lindner had suggested early elections as a solution to the stalemate, a proposal that Scholz dismissed.
Scholz's office scheduled a news briefing for reporters at 2115 local time (2015 GMT).
