Increase in Unemployment in Germany
BERLIN (Reuters) – The number of unemployed individuals in Germany surged more than anticipated in October, according to figures released by the federal labour office on Wednesday.
The report indicated that unemployment rose by 27,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis, bringing the total to 2.86 million. Analysts surveyed by Reuters had forecasted an increase of only 15,000.
Moreover, the seasonally adjusted job rate has remained stable at 6.1%.
> "The autumn upturn in the labour market has largely failed to materialise this year," stated labour office head Andrea Nahles.
