Withdrawal of Bitfinex from Türkiye

Within the scope of cryptocurrency regulation studies carried out in Türkiye, numerous obligations have been imposed on crypto exchanges, including registration with the CMB.

As the deadline for fulfilling requirements of the CMB’s secondary regulations approaches in two weeks, disappointing news has surfaced from a notable exchange.

Bitfinex, listed among other major exchanges like Binance Türkiye in the CMB’s “List of Active Exchanges,” has made the decision to withdraw from Türkiye.

Bitfinex, recognized as one of the largest exchanges globally, officially announced its withdrawal from the Turkish market.

In an official statement, the Bitfinex Türkiye Crypto Asset Trading Platform declared it would cease operations as of 16/06/2025.

Withdrawal transactions from the exchange may continue until July 16, 2025.

> “We regret to inform you that the Bitfinex Türkiye Crypto Asset Trading Platform has decided to terminate its activities as of 16/06/2025. This process is conducted under Capital Markets Law No. 6362 and relevant sub-regulations, aimed at protecting our users’ rights and interests. As of 16/06/2025, new user accounts will not be opened on our platform. Existing customers will have the opportunity to convert their crypto assets to cash and execute cash and/or crypto asset transfer transactions until 16/07/2025. Unwithdrawn crypto asset balances as of 16/07/2025 will be converted to Turkish Lira at market value and transferred to the bank account specified by the user.”
