U.S. Debt Path Sustainable, Says IMF

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Despite steady growth, the U.S. debt path remains sustainable, according to Vitor Gaspar, the International Monetary Fund's fiscal affairs director, who spoke at a news conference on Wednesday.

He emphasized that policymakers possess various options to manage debt effectively and benefit from a combination of strong economic growth and favorable financial conditions.

Gaspar stated, "It is growing at about two percentage points of GDP every year. And so from that viewpoint, this path of debt cannot continue forever."

He expressed his belief that the current situation is manageable as U.S. policymakers have numerous policy instruments at their disposal to control public debt.
