Italian Consumer Prices Update
August 9 (Reuters) – Italian EU-harmonised consumer prices (HICP) fell 0.9% month-on-month in July and were up 1.6% from the year earlier, according to the official statistics agency ISTAT. This is a revision from preliminary data which indicated a -0.8% month-on-month and +1.7% year-on-year.
July’s 1.6% annual rate marked an increase from 0.9% in June.
The main domestic price index (NIC) increased 0.4% for the month and 1.3% annually, up from 0.8% annual rise in June.
Core inflation (excluding fresh food and energy) was recorded at +2.4% year-on-year on the HICP index in July, an increase from +2.1% the previous month.
