Kaia DLT Foundation Announces Korea’s First Stablecoin Hackathon

Kaia DLT Foundation (Kaia) has recently announced its co-hosting of Korea’s first-ever Stablecoin Hackathon. In this initiative, Kaia is partnering with Tether, KakaoPay, and LINE NEXT, starting on the 1st of August, 2025. Through this event, Kaia aims to solidify its position as a leading player in the stablecoin market pegged to the KRW.

Kaia also seeks to align with South Korea’s regulations aimed at transforming digital assets. This development emphasizes stablecoin innovation while fostering synergies between Web3 developers and global enterprises.

Collaboration with Key Players to Foster Web3 and Stablecoin Adoption

Kaia collaborates with Tether, KakaoPay, and LINE NEXT to support the Web3 revolution. These partners include the largest USD stablecoin issuer and the dominant payment solution in South Korea, covering 95% of the market. This coalition aims to empower 196 million users to take advantage of Kaia-powered services through LINE Messenger.

By joining forces, the partners will host a dual-track competition consisting of a hackathon using USDT on the Kaia chain and an ideathon focused on creating a KRW-powered stablecoin future.

Prizes totaling $72,500 (KRW 100 million) will be awarded to winners, along with support from Kaia for launching their mini dApps via LINE Messenger. Additionally, Kaia Wave VC Alliances and Simsan Ventures will provide investment opportunities to top teams.

Developers, entrepreneurs, and students interested in this event are encouraged to explore areas such as financial inclusion, tokenized assets, digital content innovation, and DAO efficiency.

Strategic Support to Strengthen Korea’s Digital Asset Industry

Biyard is enhancing the Hackathon while lawmaker Byung-deok Min is slated to endorse it during the awards ceremony in September. KakaoPay CEO, Won Geon Shin, emphasizes the importance of user-focused services, expressing confidence that ideas generated from the Hackathon will lead to more innovative offerings within the current policy framework.

LINE NEXT CEO, Youngsu Ko, supports Shin’s statements, affirming the Hackathon as a crucial step towards stablecoin utilization. Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia, stresses the significance of the collaboration, stating that the Hackathon will lay the foundation for the digital asset fintech sector in Korea, paving the way for exceptional Web3 business models that benefit all.

The event will concentrate on financial inclusion, RWA tokenization, payment system innovation, DAO operational efficiency, and digital content transactions.
