Kamala Harris Launches $50 Million Advertising Campaign

Date: WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Tuesday
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has launched a $50 million advertising blitz titled “Fearless.” This initiative follows her gaining momentum after securing the Democratic nomination with the endorsement of President Joe Biden after he dropped out on July 21.

Harris has drawn support from significant financial backers and energized younger voters that Biden struggled to attract. Polls show her, now 59, narrowing the gap against Donald Trump, aged 78, who still leads in some national surveys.

The ads will be broadcast on television as well as through streaming and social media channels, particularly in key election battleground states leading up to the Democratic National Convention starting on August 19.

The ad begins with childhood images of Harris, showcasing her journey from a girl to a prosecutor, attorney general, and U.S. vice president. The slogan in the ad claims, “The one thing Kamala Harris has always been: fearless.”

Since taking on her new role, Harris has emphasized Trump’s felony convictions from a hush-money trial and highlighted the criminal charges he faces, linking him to rising anti-abortion measures in Republican-led states.

Harris’s campaign ad expenditure greatly exceeds Trump’s recently announced $10 million advertising buy set to launch in six battleground states, marking Trump’s largest ad buy since January.
