Two Argentinian Crypto Tokens: MILEI and ARG
Two Argentinian crypto tokens, MILEI and ARG, launched around the same time as the Javier Milei-backed LIBRA, may be connected to the LIBRA team.
According to Blockworks’ Senior Data Engineer Fernando Molina, there may have been a last-minute attempt to change the LIBRA token to ARG. Molina presents evidence suggesting that MILEI, ARG, and LIBRA share common characteristics:
- All were funded by different creator accounts using the same crypto exchange, FixedFloat.
- Each creator utilized the liquidity pool Meteora, depositing 108 tokens into the pool.
- ARG has slightly different metadata than LIBRA but shares an almost identical logo.
Molina asserts that MILEI is likely the work of the LIBRA team and may have been used for testing the launch of the Milei-backed token. Notably, MILEI was launched just minutes before LIBRA, while ARG was released shortly after, yet before Milei’s announcement of LIBRA.
It is important to mention that Argentinian publisher Pagina reports the wallets funding these tokens are anonymous, stating that “this data is not enough to confirm that the same people are behind each launch.”
Previously, in February, Milei promoted the controversial token, which subsequently fell significantly, leading to a political scandal. Currently, the firms involved in launching LIBRA, including Meteora, are facing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York.
