Recently, there has been a significant development: both the SEC and Ripple have requested the court to pause the appeal process due to pending applications.

Defense attorney and former federal prosecutor James K. Filan noted on his X account that the parties are seeking the court’s continuation of the appeals suspension, with the SEC required to submit a status report by August 15, 2025.

This latest development means that the SEC will file another status report by August 15, further extending a case that has felt interminable.

The parties are also waiting for Judge Analisa Torres to approve their agreement, which involves lifting the preliminary injunction and returning $50 million of the $125,035,150 penalty currently in escrow to the SEC, with Ripple receiving the remaining sum.

It’s worth noting that Judge Torres previously rejected this agreement due to procedural issues, necessitating a quick refiling process.

Experts anticipate that Judge Torres will issue a ruling soon on the agreement, which includes the request to lift the injunction and reduce the penalty to $50 million. A decision is expected soon, potentially by Thursday or next week.

Analysts believe Judge Torres is likely to approve the Ripple-SEC deal, considering the strategic nature of the filing and the collaborated effort by both parties.

As speculation grows, many anticipate that the resolution of this case could positively impact the XRP price and expedite the approval of the XRP ETF, which is still awaiting SEC consideration.
