New Jersey Governor’s Request to Trump
(Reuters) – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on Monday urged President Donald Trump to reevaluate the federal government’s approval of New York City’s pioneering congestion pricing program that began on January 5.
Murphy, a Democrat, described the program as a “disaster for New Jersey commuters” and emphasized the need for the federal government to closely examine it.
Under this program, passenger vehicles are charged $9 during peak hours in Manhattan, south of 60th Street, while trucks and buses can be charged up to $21.60. The fee is reduced by 75% during nighttime hours.
