Nexperia to Comply with U.S. Restrictions

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Nexperia, a Dutch-based computer chip maker, announced it will comply with U.S. restrictions following the addition of its Chinese parent company, Wingtech, to the U.S. Department of Commerce's "entity list".

A spokesperson stated, "The listing subjects Wingtech’s access to U.S. technology to licensing requirements. These do not apply to Nexperia or its subsidiaries. Nexperia will comply with the U.S. restrictions as these apply to its interactions with Wingtech."

Nexperia is among the largest producers of simple computer chips, such as diodes and transistors, and has recently expanded its operations in Hamburg, Germany.

On Monday, the Commerce Department added Wingtech and several other Chinese investment firms to the entity list due to their attempts to acquire chip manufacturing technology crucial to the defense industries of the U.S. and its allies.
