Galaxy Sells 80,000 Bitcoin for Satoshi-Era Investor
Institutional crypto firm Galaxy announced on Friday that it sold over 80,000 Bitcoin—worth more than $9.3 billion at the current price—for a Satoshi-era investor.
In their statement, Galaxy highlighted that this transaction was one of the largest notional Bitcoin trades in the history of crypto, conducted on behalf of a client. They described the sale as “one of the earliest and most significant exits from the digital asset market.”
Late this month, a mysterious Bitcoin whale surfaced, moving 80,000 BTC after holding the coins for 14 years, astonishing crypto analysts. Blockchain analyst JA_Maartun informed Decrypt that these movements were associated with the same investor who worked with Galaxy to sell the coins.
