Orbiter Finance Soars with Bithumb Listing

Orbiter Finance has surged over 50% in the past 24 hours, achieving a 24-hour trading volume of over $108 million, a significant 87% increase, following the announcement of its listing on Bithumb.

Price Surge and Performance

Orbiter Finance (OBT) experienced a 75% rise today, primarily driven by Bithumb’s announcement to list the OBT/KRW trading pair. This news, released approximately 5 hours ago, increased the price from around $0.018 to an all-time high (ATH) of $0.032. Although there has been a slight retracement of almost 6% from the ATH, OBT is currently trading at $0.027, according to Coinmarketcap.

The recent Bithumb listing announcement follows the protocol’s release of its bridging statistics on March 12, revealing that users have completed a total of 728,488 transactions bridging assets across different blockchains via the Orbiter Testnet, involving 101,478 unique participants.

Price History

OBT was launched on January 20 and initially faced a downward trend, reaching its all-time low in mid-February. However, from late February onward, the price began a steady rise, culminating in today’s surge. The price has broken out of the resistance level of $0.018 – $0.020, where it had been consolidating for approximately two weeks.

Orbiter Finance Background and Tokenomics

Orbiter Finance operates as a decentralized cross-rollup bridge to facilitate digital asset transfers between Ethereum’s Layer 2 networks, utilizing zero-knowledge proof technology. Launched three years ago, it has processed over $28 billion in transactions.

The OBT token, which serves governance and staking functions, was released on Ethereum (ETH), Arbitrum (ARB), and Base (BASE) in January 2025, with a total supply of 10 billion OBT. The token distribution allocates:
– 40% to the community via airdrops and incentives, starting with a 22% initial airdrop to users and ongoing monthly airdrops.
– 20% for ecosystem growth and partnerships.
– 15% for the Orbiter Foundation’s vision.
– 15% allocated to the team and contributors.
– 10% reserved for early investors from seed and series A funding rounds, including notable VC firms like OKX Ventures, Lemniscap, Mirana Ventures, Amber Group, and Dialectic.

Initial Unlocks

Initial unlocks occurred at TGE on January 20 to reward early adopters, with 22% of the community allocation distributed immediately and an additional 3% released monthly over the following six months. The first linear unlock for the OBT community airdrop occurred from March 3 to March 10, disbursing 3% of the community allocation, equivalent to 120 million OBT tokens. The next unlock is set for March 20, releasing 350 million tokens (3.5% of the maximum supply).
