PayPal Integrates LayerZero for PYUSD Transfers

PayPal's U.S.-dollar pegged stablecoin, PYUSD, is now utilizing LayerZero to facilitate transfers between Ethereum and Solana as announced on Tuesday.

The integration aims to eliminate liquidity fragmentation and ensures transactions are fast, secure, and cost-effective for users and businesses alike.

Currently, PYUSD's market cap on Ethereum holds steady at around $350 million, according to The Block Data Dashboard. In contrast, its supply on Solana has dropped sharply from over $660 million in August to $186 million, as per Dune Analytics.

Jose Fernandez da Ponte, PayPal's SVP of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital currencies, said, "We believe that PYUSD holders will welcome the flexibility and convenience offered by LayerZero."

LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) facilitates these transfers, enhancing interoperability for stablecoins. Bryan Pellegrino, CEO of LayerZero Labs, noted that using LayerZero allows PYUSD to move seamlessly between chains, enabling holders to use their tokens as needed.
