dYdX Foundation Buyback Program
The dYdX Foundation has announced the repurchase of 2.86 million DYDX tokens to date, part of a buyback program initiated in March, with a total value of $1.87 million.
Future Buyback Plans
An additional 593,570 DYDX tokens will be acquired in the next round, all designated for staking purposes.
Background
On March 24, 2025, dYdX revealed plans to use 25% of the net transaction fees generated each month to repurchase DYDX tokens from the market.
The buyback program was started by Treasury SubDAO, a subsidiary of dYdX Treasury, based on community vote proposals #225 and #231. Tokens purchased in this program are staked to enhance network security.
Financial Overview
The dYdX ecosystem generated $5.05 million in protocol fees, directing 25% of this revenue toward buybacks. To date, 1.25 million DYDX tokens from these buybacks have been staked, raising the total staked DYDX across the network to 295.39 million. The program offers an estimated annualized yield (APY) of 3.08% for DYDX tokens.
