Trump Vows Tariffs on EU and China

(Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose tariffs on the European Union and is considering a 10% tariff on goods imported from China starting February 1. This move is in response to the flow of fentanyl from China to Mexico and Canada.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump highlighted the large tariffs he imposed on China during his first term and emphasized that there are concerning trade imbalances with the European Union and other nations.

“The European Union is very, very bad to us,” he reiterated, echoing remarks made earlier. “So they’re going to be in for tariffs. It’s the only way … you’re going to get fairness.”
