Trump’s Trade Tariffs on Colombia on Hold

U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed trade tariffs against Colombia are currently suspended following an agreement between the two nations regarding migrant deportations.

The Associated Press reported that Trump had threatened a 25% tariff on all Colombian imports after Colombia denied entry to two U.S. military planes carrying migrants.

In response, the Colombian government accepted Trump’s conditions to accept illegal immigrants, which led to the suspension of the proposed tariffs. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed this development.

Initially, Trump aimed to impose a 25% duty on Colombian imports, with a potential increase to 50% within a week. Colombia’s major exports to the U.S. include oil, coffee, gold, and flowers.
