Turkey's Minimum Wage Announcement for 2025
ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Turkey's net monthly minimum wage will be 22,104 Turkish lira ($630.36) in 2025, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced on Tuesday. This represents a 30% increase from 2024.
The minimum wage hike, affecting approximately 9 million workers, serves as a benchmark for private sector salary increases and is expected to contribute to rising inflation in the months ahead, according to economists.
Based on central bank studies and Reuters calculations, a 25% wage increase could push annual inflation up by 1.5 to 5 percentage points.
Although Turkish inflation decreased to 47.09% in November from a peak of 75% in May, the improvement was slower than anticipated, largely due to strict monetary and fiscal policies.
