U.S. Judge Considers Blocking Trump Administration’s Funding Freeze

(Reuters) – A U.S. judge indicated on Wednesday that he may temporarily block the Trump administration from pausing federal loans, grants, and other financial assistance. This intervention comes at the request of Democratic state attorneys general, amidst growing confusion regarding the White House’s spending policy.
Chief U.S. District Judge John McConnell, based in Providence, Rhode Island, has requested the state attorneys general to draft a proposed temporary restraining order for him to sign. This request follows the White House’s announcement that it had rescinded the memo that initiated the legal dispute but intends to proceed with a funding freeze in areas impacted by Trump’s recent executive orders.
