VeChain Launches Street Cleaning Campaign in Japan

VeChain Commences Street Cleaning Exercises in Japan

VeChain has started street cleaning exercises in Japan as a part of its environmental sustainability campaign. CEO Sunny Lu credited the success of their inaugural campaign to the dedication of the Japanese people.

The initiative involved 47 volunteers from Cleanify, a blockchain-based platform that promotes environmental responsibility, to clean the streets of Kitashinchi, a prominent shopping area in Osaka. Participants were rewarded with special gifts for their efforts.

VeChain’s Sarah Naaba remarked on the success of the operation, which removed various forms of litter, including umbrellas, cigarette butts, masks, drink cans, and bottles from the streets.

> “Amazing morning spent meeting people of all ages! Thanks to Cleanify for making this campaign possible!! Together, we’re making a difference, one piece of litter at a time.”

Sunny Lu praised the initiative and the people’s willingness to participate, noting, “The Osaka Cleanify event was gold.” He emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving cleanliness and highlighted Japan as a role model for the world. Lu expressed that this marks the beginning for VeChain.

> “This time I learned why every city in Japan is so much cleaner than most of the iconic cities in the world. I believe the great result is coming from everyone’s effort with awareness even from childhood.”

Future Cleanups in Japan and Nigeria

Cleanify, a key partner in this initiative, uses B3TR tokens from the VeBetterDao to support sustainable practices globally. It rewards users for their participation in cleanups and aims to promote recycling efforts.

The street cleaning campaign will expand to other Japanese cities and to Uyo, Nigeria, on August 12, 2025. Upcoming cleanups are scheduled for Niigata, Sapporo, Toyooka, Omuta, Kitami, and Shibuya between June 14 and June 17.

Additionally, VeChain has partnered with 4ocean to combat ocean pollution, aiming to remove over 300,000 pounds of plastics. To date, 40 million pounds of plastic have been removed from the oceans.

VeChain is also rewarding users for sustainable shopping through the VeBetter Grants Program 3.0. Ambassador Sebastian has suggested that the blockchain could lead a significant shift toward sustainability and ESG initiatives, with potential investments reaching $50 trillion by 2030.
