U.S. Treasury Secretary Remarks on Sanctions
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced on Tuesday that the U.S. will implement robust new sanctions to hinder Russia's military activities in Ukraine. These sanctions will target "intermediaries in third countries that are supplying Russia with critical inputs for its military."
During her prepared remarks for a news conference at the beginning of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings, Yellen stated that the Treasury is "working tirelessly to unlock the economic value of frozen Russian sovereign assets to aid Ukraine."
