Hailey Welch, aka “Hawk Tuah Girl”

Hailey Welch, better known on the internet as “Hawk Tuah Girl”, will be the subject of a new documentary produced by Bungalow Media + Entertainment, as reported by Deadline on March 25.

The Tennessee native shot to viral fame in mid-2024 after a street interview where she was asked, “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?” She replied, “You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang!”

The original video has garnered over 9 million views on YouTube.

Welch leveraged her viral fame into several projects, including a podcast with guests like billionaire Mark Cuban, and ventured into entrepreneurship.

In December 2024, she launched a memecoin called $HAWK, which briefly reached a market cap of $490 million before plummeting over 93% within minutes.

Bubblemaps reported that 285 wallets acquired 96% of the token’s supply during its presale, with most dumping their tokens immediately after.

Welch’s team claimed she did not sell her share and asserted that no influencers received free tokens. However, investors who lost millions have since filed a lawsuit against the token’s creators.

Welch is not named in the lawsuit, which targets the web3 launchpad overHere, its founder Clinton So, the Tuah the Moon Foundation, and influencer Alex Larson Schultz, also known as “Doc Hollywood.”

The $HAWK incident has drawn comparisons to other celebrity and influencer rug pulls, raising calls for legal accountability.

Welch issued a since-deleted statement indicating she was taking the issue “extremely seriously” and cooperating with legal teams representing affected investors.

On March 25, she also posted on Instagram for the first time since the debacle, sharing a video addressing internet rumors of her being dead, pregnant, or arrested.

Her profile describes her as “an influence for good” and links to the Deadline article about her upcoming documentary.
