The Contrast in Performance Between XRP and Ethereum (ETH)
In a recent tweet, popular crypto influencer Da Sheriff Crypto highlighted the significant performance difference between XRP and Ethereum.
XRP’s Performance
A $1,000 investment in XRP made a year ago would have increased by 354%, appreciating from $0.5384 in January 2024 to its current price of $2.57. This means that 1,857 tokens acquired for $1,000 are now worth approximately $4,540. At its peak, XRP reached $3.40, making the investment worth $6,315.
Ethereum’s Performance
Conversely, a one-year investment in Ethereum didn’t perform as well. Trading at $2,778 a year ago, ETH is now priced at $2,680, reflecting a 4.6% decline. This means an investment of $1,000 in ETH is now only worth $965, and despite peaking at $1,475, it has seen a drop of over 35% shortly thereafter.
Bitcoin’s Performance
In contrast to Ethereum, Bitcoin’s performance has been much stronger. Bitcoin was worth $51,000 a year ago and now trades at $96,000. Thus, a $1,000 investment a year ago in Bitcoin has grown to approximately $1,882, peaking at $2,156.
Conclusion and Predictions
As Ethereum faces challenges, discussions are surfacing about XRP potentially overtaking Ethereum as the second-largest cryptocurrency. Despite a $177 billion gap in market cap, some predict that a price surge could position XRP ahead.
> “If you had thrown $1,000 into $XRP a year ago, you’d be up 354%. But with $ETH, congrats, you’d be down -2.07%. $ETH is the king of stability.” — 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗙 💵 (@DaSheriffCrypto) February 12, 2025
