Vet’s Insight on U.S. Control of Ripple’s XRP Tokens
Vet, a notable XRPL dUNL Validator, has outlined how the U.S. government could potentially seize control of the XRP tokens held in Ripple’s escrow.
This transfer could occur without waiting for the regular escrow unlock process. The statement comes in light of U.S. President Donald Trump confirming plans to establish a crypto asset reserve using XRP among other tokens.
As XRP enthusiasts celebrate this news, speculation arises on how the government could set up the proposed reserve utilizing the XRP tokens in Ripple’s escrow. XRPL Validator Vet emphasizes a straightforward approach to achieve this.
In a recent tweet, Vet mentioned that Ripple could execute a single transaction to transfer escrow ownership to the U.S. government or any other entity. By adjusting the regular key of the XRP accounts holding the escrowed funds to the U.S. government’s account, Ripple could grant it full control over these assets.
Vet pointed out that this process is simple and can all be accomplished in one XRPL transaction.
Ripple’s $105B XRP Transfer Possibility
Meanwhile, Mayukha Vadari, Senior Software Engineer at RippleX, noted that this method would only suit all-or-nothing transfers. This means Ripple would need to transfer the entire 37.7 billion XRP tokens (valued at $105 billion) in escrow, as partial transfers would not be possible.
Vet agreed with Vadari’s stance, clarifying that each account could only be transferred to one address, although multiple accounts exist.
> “Correct, every account could only be ‘transferred’ to one address. But there are many accounts out there, instead of one account with many escrows.”

Community members posed questions on whether the transaction would be public or conducted privately. Vet explained that given XRP transactions are public, it would be possible to track the hashes of such a transfer if it were to occur.
Nonetheless, some, including Vet, expressed skepticism about the likelihood of such a transfer, given the immense value of Ripple’s XRP in escrow—worth over $100 billion. Some commenters compared this scenario to XRP super whales willingly relinquishing such vast wealth, calling it a historic philanthropic act, while cautioning that it contradicts typical human behavior.
