RippleX Releases Major XRP Ledger Update
RippleX has released a major update for the XRP Ledger, referred to as the “strongest single lineup of amendments” ever in one release. Version 2.5.0 of the core network software, Rippled, is now live, featuring significant new functionalities along with vital fixes for long-standing issues, demonstrating the collective effort from various teams. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse publicly praised the update as “huge progress.”
Key Features of the Update
- TokenEscrow: This feature allows the use of escrow with IOUs and multi-purpose tokens.
- Batch Transactions: Enables users to group and execute multiple transactions in a single step, simplifying complex dApp operations.
- PermissionedDEX: Introduces compliant decentralized exchanges with access control.
- PermissionDelegation: Facilitates the secure delegation of account permissions, improving the viability of multi-user wallets and account automation.

Additionally, the upgrade enhances the protocol by tightening backend processes, including improved relay logic, stricter RPC behavior, increased transaction throughput, and better handling of validator messages. The engineering team has also phased out support for older compilers, facilitating easier development with modern building systems.
Conclusion
For developers, exchanges, and contributors to the ecosystem, this marks a significant leap towards a more flexible, programmable, and compliant XRP Ledger, all while maintaining its performance and decentralization. As the changes are now available for voting, operators are encouraged to upgrade quickly. To implement the updates across the network, at least 80% of the validators need to grant approval within a few weeks.
