Star Atlas Partners with SingularityNET for AI Integration

Star Atlas, a Solana-based sci-fi video game, is teaming up with SingularityNET, a founding member of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, to embed AI agents into its online universe.

ATMTA, the developer of Star Atlas, announced that this collaboration focuses on enhancing gameplay through SingularityNET’s AIRIS system and the OpenCog Hyperon framework. These technologies will introduce adaptive AI agents and NPCs that evolve alongside players.

Michael Wagner, co-founder and CEO of ATMTA, stated, “Integrating advanced AI is about building the ultimate world-building moments and celebrating players in our dynamic, decentralized ecosystem.”

OpenCog Hyperon is an open-source AI framework designed for human-like cognition through learning from experience. AIRIS, on the other hand, interacts with its environment to learn and solve problems autonomously. These initiatives support the SophiaVerse project by Hanson Robotics and SingularityNET, focusing on human-AI collaboration.

Star Atlas is a blockchain-based expansive open-world role-playing game set in 2620. While still in development, a pre-alpha “Showroom” experience was launched on the Epic Games Store in September 2022. In October 2023, ATMTA also introduced SAGE Labs, a browser-based game within the Star Atlas universe.

Wagner emphasized that advanced technologies, like AI agents, are crucial for improving player engagement and scalability in Star Atlas’s ongoing evolution.

“Imagine AI agents partnering with players to provide support across onboarding, progression, seasonal quests, enabling our rich economy with player tools,” he noted.

Dr. Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET, highlighted the importance of integrating these frameworks into Web3 gaming, stating it enriches user experience and promotes co-evolution within a virtual world that increasingly reflects real-world dynamics.

SingularityNET, launched by Goertzel and David Hanson in 2017, serves as a decentralized marketplace for AI models, making advanced AI accessible to all.

Goertzel pointed to a broader vision behind this AI integration in Star Atlas. He argued that decentralized networks and token economies can contribute to the evolution toward superintelligence while empowering worldwide developer and player communities.

This integration reflects a growing trend in the blockchain space, as the industry’s interest in AI agents drives numerous projects centered around autonomous AI. The market capitalization for AI agents is approximately $4.8 billion, with $1.3 billion allocated for AI agent launchpads, according to CoinGecko.
